If you have not already signed up, there is still time to do so! The Alaska Arctic Chess Club will be supplying the assistant chief tournament director for this event! I'm looking forward to seeing everybody there!

The Alaska Arctic Chess Club recognizes that there is a lack of USCF rated tournaments available in Alaska. Our goal, Lord willing, is to help create opportunities for chess players of all ages to play in rated events.

The owner of this club is a certified tournament director with the USCF and hopes to engage the local community of Fairbanks, Alaska and the greater community of Alaska as a whole by providing:

Small group sessions such as Quads and 8 person Swiss tournaments.
Larger group Swiss tournaments up to 100 players in Blitz, Quick, and Regular rated time controls. With a goal of 3 larger tournaments per calendar year.
Assist public, private, and home schools with scholastic tournaments.

Results from the 20260905 AACC Swiss Tournament

The Alaska Arctic Chess Club held a four round swiss on September 5th! It was a really fun event with a four way tie for first place going into the last round, which ended with a two way tie for first! We had to resort to tie breaks to get the final results, so congratulations to Liam for securing the win!

2026 September AACC Swiss Tournament and ACF Grand Prix Event

The Alaska Arctic Chess Club will be hosting a four round Swiss chess tournament at the North Pole Public Library on September 5th, 2026 from 11 AM until 5 PM. This will be in the Multi-purpose room, and will be open for up to 35 players. This is a rated event and will require a current US Chess membership and ID. It will also be an ACF Grand Prix event, and an ACF membership is suggested if you would like to earn ACF Grand Prix points. (This is not a US Chess Grand Prix event.)

Games will be G/25;d/5, dual rated time control.

The schedule will be as follows:

11:00 Setup and check in, as well as brief discussion of rules and regulations

11:20 Round 1 starts

12:30 Round 2 starts

1:30 – 2:00 Break

2:00 Round 3 starts

3:10 Round 4 starts

4:20 Results and cleanup
